This book is an illustrated depiction of the 1939 film Gunga Din. Based on the style of the 1950's comic "classics illustrated", our graphic novel is a slightly amature approach to honour a film we all love.

This book was drawn freehand by Reginald Groff Jr and his son over the course of 15 years. We are proud to finally see it come to light.

Since Karate training in the Far East is traditionally executed by a student taking vague instruction from a master who simply demonstrates moves without explanation, it is not surprising that many of the texts describing the martial arts are superficial. Because students of Karate are customarily not permitted to ask questions of their instructor (as it is viewed as an insult), in the past they were distined to become reliant on the art of imitation. The teaching concept was that through constant practice the truths and meanings of Karate would become clear to any diligent pupil. Consequently, in today's world, even the most up-to-date instructors are uncomfortable delving into detailed explanations of Karate movements as they are usually based on what they have perceived on their own, not simply on what they have been taught.

In this book I hope to explain more fully why Karate techniques must be performed in such an exacting manner and explore some of the underlying secrets that make Karate techniques so unbelievably powerful when used as self defense.

This book also deals with Karate training and practices today and the issues the public should consider before joining a Karate school.
